Can I use it in the Convection oven without melting the cord?
Please see the manufacturers Instructions
1) Do not use the probe at temperatures over 392F / 200C. Do not let the probe or cable touch heating elements, flames, or grill surfaces.
2) Where elevated temperatures are required, shield the cable with loosely wrapped aluminum foil.

very handy tool
I used this to roast eye of round and it was great much better than having to open the oven and check the meat again and again as i used to have to do.

Replacement for same brand
Had a Polder for many years that gave out. I replaced it with the same brand. There are two improvements the probe has a plastic piece after many burnings on the old one while cleaning it that was the right thing to do. And the tip is now pointed and not blunt.
