The Viral Cookie Croissant (Le Crookie) Recipe

What is a Crookie?

The cookie croissant also known as a “Crookie” or “Le Crookie” is a croissant cookie hybrid. Both the croissant and the chocolate chip cookie are two delicious classic baked treats. When combined they create an unexpectedly delicious, crispy, buttery, chocolatey dream dessert to say the least. This new trendy treat has swept social media & made its way into many homes & bakeries. We gave this recipe a try & were pleasantly surprised by how delicious this combination turned out!

This recipe is usually best prepared with day-old croissants. Don’t have any buttery croissants lying around? Grab a few from a local supermarket or bakery! 

Cookie Dough

Ingredients:

Prep Time: 30-45 Minutes 

Yield: 6 Cookie Croissants

 

Ingredients:

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened

1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar

1/2 cup (100g) packed brown sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup (130g) Callebaut Milk Chocolate Chunks

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Using a whisk attachment, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, 1 egg, and vanilla extract until smooth & fluffy.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Switch to a paddle attachment & gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just blended.
  5. Mix in the chocolate chunks (Callebaut Milk Chocolate Chunks)
  6. Prepare 6 croissants by delicately slicing them open, creating a perfect sandwich-ready base.
  7. Place two scoops into each croissant and spread if needed.
  8. Spread a thin layer of cookie dough on top of each croissant.
  9. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  10. Allow the cookie croissants to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes.
  11. Optional: Add chocolate drizzle for decoration & enjoy!
