The pictured knife is the old design, which was better The picture should be updated, since this isn't the version you are buying. The old shape (picured) was better in my view. The new shape is "squarer" at the back of the blade (you can find it on other sites). I'm also not crazy about the "chrome plated" look of the knife, which I don't quite understand. While you can cut bread with this knife, the best bread knives are longer. The knife itself is fine, and it's important to have a large-enough serrated knife. I got this as a knife to cut tomatoes, lemons, etc. Overall, this is the best-shaped and -sized serrated utility knife I've found, but the chrome-y steel is strange.
